TOP FIVE Rad TV Dads
By Sarah Dryden
1. DA' Best Dad Dr. Heathcliff Huxtable aka: Bill Cosby kept his cool and his sense of humor while raising five relatively well-adjusted kids. There was never an After School Special-like dilemma that he couldn’t handle or an elaborate/comfy sweater he couldn't rock. 2. Doting Dad Michael Bluth this sensitive single father was the sap that held this insane family tree together. And really, any dad who names his son after a 1980s pop singer is a pretty rad dad. 3. Domineer Dad Frank Costanza’s hot temper and erratic behavior did not make him the most loving or understanding dad to Jerry Seinfield’s sidekick George. However, Mr. Costanza’s brilliant, hair-brained visions like the manssiere and the alternative holiday (Festivus) make him a hilarious dad we’ll never forget.
4. Dimwit Dad Homer Simpson has been our favorite Duff-drinking Nuclear Safety Inspector for almost two decades. He’s lazy, apathetic, and endlessly irritable. Yet we still love him. D’oh! 5. Debonair Dad Mike Brady was one of the most dashing dads on television in the 1970s. This living Ken Doll would effortlessly extinguish family fires and sibling disputes when kazoo stealing (Season 1, Episode 7) and getting hit in the face by footballs (Season 4, Episode 90) were an everyday calamity.
