TOP FIVE Golden Globes Moments
By Leigh Anne Bowles
This year’s Golden Globe Awards were a little dampened by the rain and a lot dampened by the general mood of presenters and nominees, feeling awkward amidst the high-budget revelry when elsewhere in the world, Haitians are enduring a massive earthquake crisis. But still, some Golden Globers were able to keep it real, awards-show style. Here’s the highlights: 1. The Dress-Rip Heard Round the World To say that Chloï Sevigny was beside herself when a Golden Globes usher displayed human error in a high pressure situation would be an understatement. She was aghast. 2. Classic Tobey. This is the face of a man who thinks he deserves it way more than that guy from SEABISCUIT. 3. The Globe as Metaphor. Finally! Christoph Waltz took it there. And it was only about 10 minutes before Waltz successfully landed on the punchline – and now YOU made it golden. By any stardards, this was a lot more thoughtful than “I’d like to thank the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.” 4. James Cameron Just Can’t Help Himself. With the show coming to a close, James Cameron followed up a bunch of pleas for aid to Haiti with a rousing pep talk congratulating everyone in the room for working in movies and basically living the raddest lives ever. Hooray for Hollywood! 5. And Robert Downey Junior Brings the Funny! After 27 stints in rehab, RDJ knows there’s a time and a place for sulking, and that’s called detox. The rest of it should be taken lightly.
